Shortly after the Los Angeles riots of 1992, BrandAmerica created
a program to assist minority-owned businesses reestablish themselves
in the marketplace. A very successful example is Mamie’s Kitchen.
In 1993, BrandAmerica was retained to evaluate the probability of
opening a Southern cuisine restaurant and catering service in the
inner city. The study concluded that the concept and location were
feasible. BrandAmerica built the business model, wrote the plan and
successfully secured funding from a local bank. Prior to selling his
restaurant in 1998, the client had enjoyed a very profitable business
and his regular clientele included high profile players from the Los
Angeles Lakers and celebrities including Michael Jackson.
