Stuart
Anderson's Black Angus
Stuart Anderson’s Black Angus was founded in April 1964 by Stuart
Anderson, a prominent restaurateur, who opened the first “Black
Angus” Restaurant in Seattle. Anderson’s concept for the
restaurant was to provide patrons with a top quality, complete steak
dinner at an affordable price, served in a warm, comfortable atmosphere
with friendly service. Headquartered in Los Altos, California, Black Angus
is now the largest steakhouse chain west of the Mississippi River and
has regularly been ranked as the first or second best steakhouse chain
in the United States by Restaurants & Institutions magazine’s
“Choice in Chains” annual survey over the last ten years.
BrandAmerica was retained by Stuart Anderson's parent company, American
Restaurant Group, in 1997 to locate an Asian partner for the expansion
of the concept in Asia. Via a joint venture arrangement between American
Restaurant Group, Singapore-based partners and BrandAmerica, two flagship
restaurants have been developed in Singapore as the launch point for
franchising the entire Asian region.
